Gladys Knight wants Kelly Rowland to play her in a future biopic…

It’s one thing for a singer or actor to want to portray an icon in a biopic. It’s another thing, when the celebrity hand picks you for the role. This seems to be the case for Motown legend Gladys Knight! The  multi-Grammy winning singer, actress and entrepreneur recently confessed that she would like Destiny Child star, Kelly Rowland to play her in future biopic.

“You guys remember when I asked you all who you’d like to see play the role of Gladys Knight in my biopic? Well… Here’s what I think:) @kellyrowland,” confirms Knight on Instagram.

Knight is a music royalty and has been wowing audiences for over five decades. She is also an accomplished actress, best-selling author and restaurant owner, whose classic hits include “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Neither One of Us,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” and my personal favorite,”You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me.”

It’s not clear if there is a film in the works but Ms. Knight’s post should send a clear message to Hollywood that she is now ready to tell her story. Plus, this just may be the opportunity Kelly’s been looking for since she told The Huffington Post’s Marc Lamont Hill that she wants more acting roles.

“I’m ready to dive into scripts! I’ve had meetings with directors and scripts have been sent to me, so it’s more a matter of just, like, the time. But the time is here! It’s now! And I’m ready! You have to be ready to take on something new, and I am.”
