Last June, we reported that FX was given the green light for a new “Odd Couple” type sitcom starring Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer. The series is now titled, Partners and is gearing up for an August 4th debut.
As previously reported, the show follows two Chicago lawyers (Lawrence and Grammer) from vastly backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court on the worst day of their lives. Brought together by fate and greed, they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous in both their professional and personal lives.
Partners also stars Daniele Watts, Telma Hopkins, Rory O’Malley, McKaley Miller and Edi Patterson. It is also written and executive produced by Bob Boyett and Robert Horne, whose previous credits include Family Matters, Living Single and Designing Women.
So far 10 episodes have been ordered and if the show is successful, 90 more shows will be ordered. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. It would be so awesome to see Martin Lawrence on prime time television again.
