It was all about the “Godfather of Soul” last night at the Atlanta Red Carpet Premiere of the James Brown biopic, Get On Up. The VIP screening was held at the Regal Atlantic Station and was attended by the film’s director, Tate Taylor and lead actors Octavia Spencer and Chadwick Boseman. Also in attendance from the film were Keith Robinson, Jacinte Blankenship, Atkins Estimond, Clyde Jones, Justin Hall and David Carzell.

The event, which served as a fundraiser for the James Brown Family Foundation, was also attended by some of ATL’s finest including Jennifer Holliday, Jasmine Guy, Dwight Eubanks, Egypt Sherrod, Chandra Currelley-Young and Kandi Burruss.

Get On Up takes a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. The film features an all-star cast including Viola Davis, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.
