Sherri Shepherd exiting ‘The View’ after seven seasons…

Deadline is reporting The View co-host, Sherri Shepherd, is exiting the show after seven years!

In fact, a rep for Shepherd sent Deadline the following statement earlier today:

“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”

Shepherd’s contract was coming up, and the two sides were talking. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, ABC and Shepherd’s camp were “too far apart” on terms of a new deal.

In April, not long before she stepped down as the show’s on-air Den Mom, Barbara Walters — who remains exec producer — said in various interviews that Shepherd “definitely” was coming back next season, as were Jenny McCarthy and Whoopi Goldberg.

Sources are also stating newcomer Jenny McCarthy is out as well;  only moderator Whoopi Goldberg was still on board for the series’ upcoming 18th season.

All of these changes for The View comes amid ratings declines for the once dominant show. Female driven panel show and CBS competitor The Talk has been making plenty of gains in the arena, and this fall sees the launch of yet another female-fronted panel show in syndicated daily The Real.

The transition for The View will also move studios, shifting to the vacant Katie’s old studio in the ABC Broadcast Center on 47th Street in New York City.

ABC declined to comment.
