The other day, we posted photos of the lead actors for Universal Pictures upcoming biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Well, Wednesday morning real N.W.A members, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre tweeted the above photo of them with the principle actors and the film’s director, F. Gary Gray. However, there has been a slight change.
The actor who we reported as playing Dr. Dre is not Marcus Callendar but is now Corey Hawkins. Actor Jason Mitchell is still on board as N.W.A founder, Eazy-E as is O’Shea Jackson Jr. on board to play his father, Ice Cube.
We’ve also learned that the film will debut next summer on August 14, 2015 and it is being executive produced by Will ‘Power’ Packer alongside F. Gary Gray.
Check out the film’s new synopsis:
In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.
