Shonda Rhimes: ‘Harrison is not being recast EVER!’

“Harrison is not being recast EVER!!!!!”

Those are the exact words of Shonda Rhimes, creator of ABC’s hit series, Scandal.  The super producer caught wind of a story that ran on Deadline.com, naming actor Eric West as the replacement of Columbus Short’s beloved character on the show. However, Rhimes is calling the report totally false and says she has no plans on recasting for that role.

“I’ve never heard of Eric West. Harrison is not being recast EVER,” Shonda tweeted.  “How about reporters CHECK THEIR SOURCES before running the story? Um, @deadline? Handle yourself.”

Reportedly, the new role was also a surprise to West, who is being described as an upcoming actor and has appeared in several television and films including World War Z, Hawaii Five-O  and Hey Girl.

TMZ, is also reporting that Deadline has since updated the story and called it an “elaborate hoax.”  If you recall, Short was released from Scandal  last month due to alleged violent behavior charges filed by his estranged wife, Tanee McCall-Short.

RC will keep you posted as this story continues to develop.

Do you think Shonda Rhimes should recast the role? Sound off and let us know what you’re thinking.
