“Living my life like it’s GOLDEN” singer Jill Scott will receive an honorary degree today from Temple University.
According to EURweb.com, ‘Jilly from Philly’ will be feted with a Doctor of Humane Letters from her former school. University president Neil D. Theobald says of the Grammy winning-performer, “(Her) values and achievements embody the mission and ideas of the university.” Reportedly, Scott studied secondary education at Temple before leaving the school due to financial constraints.
Scott is huge proponent of higher education and most recently participated in this year’s UNCF An Evening of Stars where she presented a scholarship to a rising student on behalf of her Blues Babe Foundation.
Kudos Ms. Scott! This degree is well deserved.
