NeNe Leakes says ALL the RHOA are coming back and wants more money!

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

When it comes to NeNe Leakes, you just never know what is going to come out of her mouth!

The RHOA star and Dancing With the Stars  alum was recently interviewed by Life and Style Magazine  when she revealed that ALL of the current “peaches” are returning next season and that it’s time for Bravo to give them a raise.  BLOOP!

“All of us deserve a raise,” she declared to the weekly glossy. “I haven’t asked for more money yet, but I damn sure plan to!”

Leakes followed up with, “Everybody has been invited back, but I don’t know exactly what I’m doing. This past season was very dark and toxic; there was a lot of negativity. I just don’t want to work with so much negativity.”

The news comes after several rumors that the GLEE  actress was exiting the show even though she is reportedly the “highest paid” of all the housewives and received a $1 million pay increase last season.

Will Bravo pay up?  I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Stay tuned…

Indie Wire is reporting that CBS Television Distribution will not be renewing ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ after all. As previously reported, the late night talk show survived its first season and was on board for a second with its larger-than-life host, Arsenio Hall. However, it appears that execs at CTD have had a change of heart and are pulling the plug.

We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

No word yet on when his last show will air.

#TBT Jagged Edge to release sequel to Multiplatinum ‘J.E. Heartbreak’

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

So So Def Recordings and Hard Case Records has announced a new deal with BMG Primary Wave Artists Services to release the multi-platinum-selling group Jagged Edge’s eighth studio album, J.E. Heartbreak Too,  this fall 2014. The album’s lead single, “Hope,” will premiere on VIBE.com on Friday, May 30 – just in time for June’s Black Music Month.

Written and produced by the group’s twin brothers Brian and Brandon Casey along with Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Bryan Michael Cox, “Hope” is a classic R&B throwback to the signature sound on the initial J.E. Heartbreak, which sold over 2 million records in 2000 and spawned the hits “Let’s Get Married” and “Promise.”

“Making a sequel to a classic album is difficult,” says So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri, who serves as executive producer on the upcoming LP. “We don’t want to stray from the blueprint of the first album. It’s definitely a challenge, but the fans won’t be disappointed.”

Jagged Edge has reunited with Dupri and their original management team – Mauldin Brand Agency – for J.E. Heartbreak Too, which is a joint venture with their own Hard Case Records and So So Def, and is being released by BMG Primary Wave Artists Services.

With over 8 million records sold across 7 studio albums (5 of them gold or multi-platinum), Jagged Edge is one of the most successful R&B groups in music. For nearly two decades, J.E. has issued numerous Top 10 singles under So So Def, including “Let’s Get Married,” “He Can’t Love You,” “Promise,” “Where the Party At” and “Walked Outta Heaven.” The group has won three Billboard Awards, two Soul Train Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Music & Dance Awards and has earned various Grammy, BET, and American Music Award nominations.

Performing since 1996, Jagged Edge has remained together as a unit and is one of the longest-lasting platinum-selling music groups with original members Brian and Brandon Casey, Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo.

“We are so excited about our realignment with Jermaine Dupri, So So Def and the Mauldin Brand Agency,” said Brandon Casey. “Jermaine has given us the opportunity to launch our own HARD CASE Records with this venture. We are dedicating our first official single ‘Hope’ to single mothers all across the world.”

Hey RC Fans! What’s your favorite Jagged Edge song?

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Gentleman, start your engines…

The race is on in Hollywood right now as to which Jesse Owens biopic will make it to the big screens first as well as a list of actors who are vying for the coveted role.

According to Deadline, soon-to-be-Jimi Hendrix star Anthony Mackie is teaming up with his former We Are Marshall  writer Jamie Linden for an untitled project about the Olympic sprinter. Reportedly, Mackie really  wants to play Owens and is currently looking for a distributor. His passion project will “focus on Owen’s run-up to the 1936 games and the profound impact his performance had on the world.”

At the same time, Indie Wire is reporting that rising Canadian actor Stephan James is replacing soon-to-be Star Wars  actor John Boyega in the Owens biopic, Race.  This project is will “focus on Owens shattering Adolf Hitler’s myth of Aryan supremacy at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by winning a record four gold medals in the 100-meter dash, the 200 meter dash, the long jump and the 400-meter relay.” The film is being directed by Stephen Hopkins and scripted by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel. Unlike the other projects, this film has the full support of the Jessie Owens Foundation and the Jesse Owens Trust.

Finally, there is 3rd film project that is being directed by Antoine Fuqua and Disney that is based on ESPN anchor Jeremy Schaap’s book, Triumph.  However, casting for this film has yet to be announced.

Owens made Olympic history in 1936, when he shattered Hitler’s theory that Germans where the superior race.  He is an American sports legend who went on to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1976 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 1990, posthumously.

RC will keep you posted as these three film projects continue to develop.

Houston Family not satisfied with ‘Lifetime’ version of Whitney’s story

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Hold the applause!  Not everyone is happy about Whitney Houston’s life being displayed on Lifetime, especially her family.

According to TMZ, the Houston clan is not pleased with Angela Bassett’s made-for-TV-film about Whitney’s marriage to ex-husband Bobby Brown. Reportedly, they feel a big screen project is more suitable and are considering filing a law suit against the network to halt production. Additionally, the family was says they were never on board for the project and would prefer to release their own film about Nippy, in the same vein of Michael Jackson’s  This Is It.

“Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening, says Pat Houston, Whitney’s former manager and sister-in-law.

As previously reported, Bassett was using the project to make her directorial debut and was very excited about their story.

“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all.  I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
