Indie Wire is reporting that actors Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan and Morris Chestnut are eyeing lead roles in a Sony/Screen Gems revenge thriller titled The Perfect Guy.

The film, which is in ‘active development’, follows a woman (likely the role offered to Lathan) who meets an IT expert (Ealy), who seems to be the perfect guy.   However, following a sexually-charged courtship, she sees a violent side of him and dissolves the budding relationship.  In a jealous rage and fueled by insane revenge he disrupts her life.

No word yet on what role Morris Chestnut might be eyeing here.

Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard, The Losers) will helm the film, Tyger Williams and Barbara Curry are listed as writers and James Lopez and Clint Culpepper are executive producing for Screen Gems.

The production start date has not been announced.

The plotline sounds interesting but as Indie Wire mentioned the film does sound similar to another Screen Gems thriller – the Will Packer-produced thriller No Good Deed (starring Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson), which is set for a September 122014 release.  The stories aren’t exactly the same, but, based on what we know of both thus far, each centers on a woman who is terrorized by a handsome, seemingly *safe* but unbalanced stranger.
