Deadline is reporting that noted film and music video director Bille Woodruff is slated to direct Nick Cannon’s upcoming Drumline 2: A New Beat.

As previously reported, the sequel follows an upper-class Brooklyn girl (Dani) who defies her parents in order to attend a college in Louisiana so she can join – and revitalize – their once-prominent drumline.

Drumline 2: A New Beat  is co-written by Karen Gist and Regina Hicks and will be executive produced by Cannon, who will also reprise his role in the film. The film will also air on VH1 later on this year.

Woodruff is well respected film director who has worked on a number of hit movies including Honey  & Honey 2,  Beauty Shop  and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.  He has also directed episodes for BET’s The Game  and has worked on music videos for Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Joe, Britney Spears, R. Kelly, Usher, TLC and the late Luther Vandross.

Congrats!
