Casting News: Idris Elba, Alfre Woodard, and Anthony Mackie

Indie Wire is reporting that Idris Elba will appear in the 4th installment of Steven Spielberg’s Dinosaur thriller, Jurassic World.  The film is set to be released in June of 2015 and will begin shooting this month.

Elba joins an all-star cast including Chris Pratt, Irrfan Khan, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson and Omar Sy.  Unfortunately, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern will not be reprising their roles in this film.

No word yet on what part Elba will be playing in the film.

Deadline is reporting that versatile actress Alfre Woodard is slated to play the President of the United States in the NBC drama pilot, State of Affairs.  Woodard will star alongside Katherine Heigl, who plays a CIA attaché who counsels the president on high-stake incidents around the world. Woodard is an 18-time Emmy nominated actress who most recently appeared in the Oscar winning film, 12 Years a Slave.

Captain America  star Anthony Mackie has been added to the cast of the upcoming cop thriller Triple Nine.  According to Indie Wire, the outspoken actor joins Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejifor in a story about a group of corrupt cops who plan a major heist.

As previously reported, Triple Nine  refers to police code indicating that an officer needs immediate assistance and also stars Casey Affleck, Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet.
