Singer and budding actress LeToya Luckett is teaming up with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for Mark Wahlberg’s new HBO series, Ballers.  Luckett announced the big news on Friday via Instagram along with a few photos of her on the set with her co-star and the following caption:

Wooooooo hooooooo !!!! God continues to AMAZE me EVERYDAY!!!!!! Our show got picked up to series!!!!!!! Check me out in Mark Wahlbergs the new HBO series “Ballers” staring @theRock coming soon!!! @pberg44 @jazmynsimon #WontHEdoit # #Godisgood #BestVdaygiftEVER #Tina #HBO #LetsGO

The half-hour dramedy will center on the lives of retired athletes living in Miami. Johnson will star as former football player, Spencer Strasmore while Luckett will play Tina, the widow to one of Spencer’s closets friends.

Rounding out the cast is Omar Benson Miller, Rob Corddry, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and John David Washington, son of Oscar winning actor Denzel Washington.

HBO’s Ballers  is not to be confused with the film project of the same that stars Kevin Hart and LeBron James. Their version is about a man (Hart) who really wants to be known as something other than the brother of an NBA superstar (James) and gets his chance to prove himself when and some of his friends attend a fantasy basketball camp in Miami.

Congrats to The Rock and Luckett for landing roles on a primetime show. In the meantime, check out her latest single that was released earlier this week titled, “Don’t Make Me Wait.”
