Indie Wire is reporting that NBA All-Star LeBron James is teaming up with Warner Bros. for Space Jam 2.  This is a follow up to the hugely popular 1996 live-action animated comedy which starred NBA icon Michael Jordan and featured a host of Looney Tunes characters like Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny.

The film is reportedly being developed by Charlie Ebersol, son of broadcasting veteran Dick Ebersol.

Space Jam  followed Jordan as he tried to help the Looney Toons play a basketball game vs. alien slavers to determine their freedom. The film’s soundtrack featured a bevy of hit singles including R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” and Monica’s “For You, I Will.”

As previously reported, James will also star in Survivor’s Remorse, a new STARZ series that will explore what truly happens when one becomes rich and famous yet feels a sense of guilt for having made it out. Filming begins in the spring with the series debuting in the fall.

RC will keep you posted on Space Jams 2 as the project continues to develop.
