Billboard is reporting that last Sunday’s Super Bowl Halftime performance featuring Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chilli Peppers reached the largest audience in Super Bowl history. Reportedly, the 14-minute show attracted over 115.3 million viewers, according to Fox.
Mars’ performance surpassed the prior record set by pop divas, Madonna at 114 million in 2012 and Beyoncé, who had 110.8 million viewers in 2013.
The eclectic show was a mash up of throwback hits from the Peppers along with a mix of Mars’ current hits like “Just the Way You Are” and “Locked out of Heaven.” In addition, Mars channeled the spirit of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown with some fancy footwork that had the stadium cheering for more.
Billboard is also stating that the game’s final numbers (111.5 million) were higher than the 98.88 million viewers that was reported in overnight ratings.
Congrats to Bruno Mars and the Seattle Seahawks, who won 43-8 over the Denver Broncos.
