All eyes will be on award-winning singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé this January during the ESSENCE Black Women in Music event. The English born-Scottish vocalist will be honored during the fifth annual celebration that will take place in Los Angeles on January 22. Reportedly, Sandé will give a special performance along with special guests.

“What a privilege to have received the news that I will be part of celebrating powerful, strong, creative women in the music industry today,”  said the “Next to Me” singer. “I am honored to have been selected by ESSENCE magazine and look forward to an evening of empowerment.”

Essence Black Women in Music Event is always held during GRAMMY week in L.A. and recognizes the biggest and brightest in music. Last year’s honorees included Lianne La Havas and Solange Knowles, who former ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief, Constance C.R. White said were making “inimitable marks on the industry and around the world.”

Congrats to Emeli and looking forward to the celebration.
