S&A is reporting that versatile actress Tika Sumpter has been added to the cast of the James Brown biopic, Get on Up.  Reportedly, she will play Yvonne Fair, a singer who toured with Brown and recorded his classic tune, “I Got You (I Feel Good).”

Sumpter joins an all-star cast that includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jill Scott, Dan Aykroyd, Keith Robinson, Nelsan Ellis and Chadwick Boseman as James Brown.

Get On Up  is being directed by The Help’s  Tate Taylor along with Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins. The film is also being produced through Mick Jagger’s production company, Jagged Films.

Tika is currently in Atlanta filming season two of The Have and Have Nots  and will also appear in BET’s Being Mary Jane  as well as Ride Along  with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in 2014.

La LaIn other casting news…

Reality star La La Anthony and legendary soap diva Debbie Morgan have been cast in Power, the new Starz series executive produced by 50 Cent.

As previously reported, the one-hour drama is centered on a New York night club owner who skirts the line between legitimacy and criminality. The show stars Omari Hardwick as James “Ghost” St. Patrick along with Naturi Naughton as his ride or die chick. Lela Loren will play Ghost’s old girlfriend and Joseph Sikora will star as Ghost’s childhood friend.

Anthony will play the childhood friend to Naughton’s character, Tasha St. Patrick while Morgan will play Estelle, Tasha’s mother.  Production for Power  begins in the early part of 2014.
