I have been saying this for years and finally someone else agrees with me!
S&A is reporting that Oscar-nominated actress, Taraji P. Henson may be stepping into the role of legendary R&B vocalist Tammi Terrell for the new James Brown biopic, Get on Up. Terrell was a member of The James Brown Revue and was romantically linked to the singer.
While the casting news has not been confirmed and is technically still considered a rumor, Henson’s name does appear on the film project’s IMDB page and the role appears on her page. Although, Henson looks almost identical to the Terrell, the 40-something-year-old actress has expressed numerous times that she would prefer to play another Motown singer, Diana Ross.
Terrell is best known for her classic duets with Marvin Gaye including “Aint No Mountain High Enough,” “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” “Precious Love” and “You’re All I Need to Get By.” Unfortunately Terrell died in 1970 from a brain tumor at the tender age of 24.
RC will keep you posted as more of this story continues to develop.
