Rock star Lenny Kravitz is headed back to the big screen to play alongside Oscar-winning actor Christopher Walken in the Dan Algrant drama Little Rootie Tootie.
According to Deadline, Kravitz will play the son of a veteran jazz pianist (Walken) who returns home from Europe with his musician wife only to find that his father is still mourning the death of his mother. The three must keep up the appearance of a functioning family; even though the father’s manic and destructive behavior along with the ups and downs of being working musicians is crippling their family unit.
Reportedly, shooting will begin in January 2014 in New York City and will be shopped around at the American Film Market (AMF). Jazz trumpeter, Terence Blanchard has also been tapped to score and create the film’s original music.
Kravitz most recently appeared in Lee Daniel’s The Butler along with Forrest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo.
