“Look at what God can do” is what Jennifer Hudson tearfully said before press and invited guests as she received the 2,512thstar on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. Rocking her short cropped cut and a beautiful sleeveless white dress, Hudson stood in awe as November 13 was officially declared “Jennifer Hudson Day” in the city of Los Angeles, CA.
“I knew I’d get emotional, and I’m sure my mom is in heaven like ‘Jenny, stop crying,’ but now is the time to cry mama, it is,” said Hudson.
Joining her on this special occasion was Black Nativity soundtrack producer Raphael Saadiq who called her an “American Idol who is now an American Dream.” Legendary record producer Clive Davis was also there to say a few words on behalf of the Grammy winning-singer, who he called the voice of the next generation.
“I have been privileged over the years to work for over 25 years with two of the greatest voices of all time – Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. I never thought I’d hear another voice to compare, and yet staring me in the face was a new voice that did compare. It literally sent shivers up my spine. Well, the rest is in the history books,” said Davis.
According to the HWOF site, Hudson is being honored in the category of Recording and will have a star in front of the W Hollywood Hotel. Hudson is also celebrated the debut of the lyric video to her new single, “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel).”
