Gospel diva Yolanda Adams stopped through Atlanta this week with Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound Choir Competition. The popular radio host and Sunday Best judge is co-hosting this year’s competition alongside award-winning singer and songwriter Donald Lawrence.
Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound pays tribute to gospel music and provides choirs a platform to showcase their talent with a broader community. The program is a year-long series of gospel experiences that unite communities and cities all across America in celebration and song. The tour, which ends on Saturday, November 2 at L.A.’s Nokia Theater, features a variety of choirs competing and is judged by gospel great Hezekiah Walker, singer and actress Tamela Mann, and gospel newbie VaShawn Mitchell.
While backstage, Adams chatted with The Brandy Blog’s Vaughn Alvarez about her participation in this year’s competition. She also indicated that she was in the studio working on new music and wants to do a duets album with Brandy, Monica, Mary J. Blige, Nancy Wilson and Diana Ross. Adams also gave her “two cents” about Miley Cyrus and shared a few words of encouragement to fans that are currently affected by the government shutdown.
