After spending 36-hours in a Washington D.C. jail, R&B vocalist Chris Brown was released yesterday without bail. TSR is reporting that the “Fine China” singer’s alleged assault on a man early Sunday morning has been reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor charge. Brown, who has pled not guilty to the charges, has also been ordered to stay at least 100 feet away from the alleged victim.
As previously reported, Brown was in D.C. as part of the entertainment for a Howard University Homecoming after party when he allegedly got into an altercation with a man. The victim is claiming that Brown attack him and broke his nose while spewing homophobic slurs. Brown has denied these allegations and claims the man was trying to enter his tour bus unauthorized. Brown also claims he was on the bus when the incident occurred and his bodyguard took care of the situation as per HipHopDx.com.
According to Brown’s attorney, the singer has committed “no crime.”
“Christopher Brown committed no crime,” Onorato told press shortly after the hearing. “We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and his property, as he is authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing.”
Both Brown and his bodyguard are expected to return to court on November 24.
RC will keep you posted as this continues to develop.
