Leigh Bush, the artist formerly known as Sammie, hosted a private performance in Atlanta last night to introduce his new public persona and four-song EP entitled, Leigh Bush. The event was held at The Peter Maxfield Boutique and also served as an unveiling party for BE Magazine’s new October-November issue which features Bush on the cover. Reminiscent of an MTV Unplugged concert, Bush and guitarist Xeryus Gittens performed acoustic versions of songs from the EP including the new single, “Free Falling.”
“This rebranding is just an expansion of myself, the things that I tweet and things the things that I Instagram. People say I speak profoundly, so I was like let me put that in music and see if people appreciate that through song,” says the platinum selling artist. “Leigh Bush is just an extension of Sammie. I love everything that Sammie has done and Leigh Bush is just taking that to another level.”
Prior to working on the project, Bush watched a documentary about the legendary soul crooner Marvin Gaye. Ironically, Bush says he found a new sense of direction for his career in Gaye’s lyrics, prompting him to write songs like “Dancer” and “Ms. Bartender” which addresses infidelity and cheating. Bush says this project is his most “honest” work to date and calls it “relatable” which is what he wants to be to his fan moving forward. The EP is executive produced by Troy Taylor, the Grammy-winning producer and songwriter who is known for cultivated young talent including Trey Songz.
Leigh Bush is currently available on iTunes and copies of BE Magazine will be available next week!
