Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds recently received a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 54-year-old singer-songwriter-producer was surrounded by family and friends including his former musical collaborator L.A. Reid, Usher, Diddy, Toni Braxton, Kenny G and David Foster.
Edmonds, who has just released a video to his new duet single with Braxton, was praised by Usher for always having his finger on the pulse of what was cool and hip in R&B music.
“Everybody has a song or that moment when Kenny, or Babyface, really set the stage for what cool was,” said Usher at the gathering which drew a huge crowd. ” Whip Appeal was my moment.”
Edmonds has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men, Vanessa Williams and the list goes on and on. He’s a 10 time Grammy winner and has written and produced over 26 No. 1 records.
One of his biggest projects to date was penning all the songs for the 1995 movie soundtrack to Waiting to Exhale including the No. 1 hit single, Exhale (Shoop Shoop). The album also spawned hits for Aretha Franklin, Brandy, and Mary J. Blige.
Edmond’s current project with Braxton, Love, Marriage and Divorce is due out next month. He will also appear on Broadway alongside Braxton in the new-jazz inspired musical, After Midnight.
