In Hollywood, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose…
A few weeks back, we reported that Awkward Black Girl’s Issa Rae was collaborating with Scandal creator, Shonda Rhimes on a new show for ABC called I Hate L.A. Dudes. Well, according to Hello Beautiful, the show has been turned down. Rae apparently spilled the beans about the series’ dismiss during a recent interview.
“ABC passed on [“I Hate LA Dudes”] so I am working on another series right now,” she said. “But the process of working with [Shonda Rhimes] was freaking amazing and I learned so much from her.”
As previously reported, I Hate L.A. Dudes centered on an aspiring journalist, new to Los Angeles, who becomes the lone female voice on a budding, male-driven Internet talk show, while learning to decode the often humiliating and exasperating rules of the LA dating scene.
L.A. Dudes was just one of many projects Rae is involved with including her new series with HBO, her new webisode, The Choir along with Tracey Edmonds and playing jazz great, Nina Simone in a new biopic about Lorraine Hansberry.
