R&B music stars Aretha Franklin and Chris Brown have both cancelled future events due to health issues.
According to BET, 71-year-old Franklin had to pull out of her commitment for this weekend’s Major League Baseball Beacon Awards, taking place on Saturday, August 24th. The music legend was being honored by the group for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement but nixed her appearance due to an undisclosed health issue.
“It is unfortunate that Aretha Franklin will not be able to attend the Beacon Awards Luncheon but Major League Baseball wishes her the best throughout her treatment,” said Hall of Famer and MLB executive vice president of development Frank Robinson.
Franklin also released a statement apologizing for not being able to make to engagement. “I greatly appreciate being a Beacon Award recipient. Presently, I am unable to travel as I continue my treatment. I am working toward a full recovery.”
Brown recently suffered from a seizure on Thursday, August 8 while recording music for his forthcoming album, X. His doctors sited “emotional stress” and “non-stop negativity” as the cause of the (NES) nonepileptic seizure.
In addition to the health issues, Brown was also placed back on probation last Friday due to his recent hit and run accident. Reportedly, he has been ordered to complete 1000 hours of community labor.
RC would like to keep these two in our prayers and keep you updated as more news develops.
