Androgynous celebrity blogger B. Scott is not a happy camper these days. The fashion maven and popular advice columnist is still upset over BET’s decision to remove him from covering their red carpet pre-show and forcing him to change his clothes. The awkward moment has left Scott embarrassed and is the latest controversy surrounding Sunday’s award show.
Apparently, Scott’s appearance was way too feminine for the network’s taste and he was forced to “man up” by removing some of his make-up, pulling his famous mane into a pony tail and switching out his high heels and flowing black shirt for a pair of loafers and a tuxedo.
However, after a few internal network calls Scott was placed back on the red carpet but was not looking his usual fabulous self.
Well, today the network issued an official apology to Scott calling the situation a big misunderstanding. According to BET, the incident “was a singular one with a series of unfortunate miscommunications from both parties. We regret any unintentional offense to B. Scott and anyone within the LGBT community and we seek to continue embracing all gender expressions.”
However, B. Scott said he is not accepting the apology. “I want a real apology from BET. This was a not a mutual misunderstanding or miscommunication. I pride myself on being very professional.”
Scott later went on to explain, “This was my day to come out in one of the biggest days of my career and I was publically humiliated,” he said. “I’m just hurt by it. I just want people to know that it’s ok to be who you are.”
BET is standing by their apology and said the network “embraces global diversity in all its forms and seeks to maintain an inclusive workforce and a culture that values all perspectives and backgrounds.”
