NYDailyNews.com is reporting that music’s power couple, Jay Z and Beyoncé took time out of their busy schedules on Saturday to show their support for the “Justice for Trayvon” rally in Harlem. Apparently Bey, who is currently on a separate concert tour from her husband, tweeted yesterday: #actnow4Trayvon. She also posted this message on her website urging her fans to add their names to the NAACP petition/Civil Rights Case against George Zimmerman. He was found not guilty last Saturday for the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Al Sharpton and Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton during her speech at the National Action Network headquarters in Harlem. Reportedly, marchers chanted “No concerts in Florida” when they spotted the couple, who shook hands with fans but refused to talk to media. Fulton was overwhelmed by all of the diverse support and told the crowd that her son was innocent and did not deserve to die. “He was a child,” she said outside 1 Police Plaza. “Don’t take my word for it. He had a drink and candy.”

As previously reported, news of Zimmerman’s not guilty verdict sparked outrage around the country. A number of celebrities and personalities like Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Nicki Minaj, and Jamie Foxx expressed their anger via Twitter and Instagram. Motown legend, Stevie Wonder even called for a boycott against the state of Florida vowing not to perform their because of the controversial stand-your-ground law.

Today’s NYC rally was actually one of several that took place in major cities around the country including protests in Los Angeles, Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Washington. The Reverend Jessie Jackson spoke to thousands in Chicago while Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin spoke to protesters in Miami. Martin Luther King III spoke in Atlanta.
