Are you ready for Sommore?
The AJC is reporting that BET’s premiere stand–up comedy series, Comic View is returning to the network this fall and will be hosted by “Queen of Comedy” Sommore. Reportedly, the show will begin taping in Atlanta as early as next month. However, a venue for the program has not been announced.
Comic View premiered in 1992 and ran until 2008. The show, which was taped in L.A., Miami, and New Orleans, served as a launching pad for a number of rising comedians including Kevin Hart, Rickey Smiley, J. Anthony Brown, Cedric The Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Bruce Bruce. Sommore, who hosted the show from 1994-95, is one of three female comics to do so including Montana Taylor (1996-97) and Sheryl Underwood (2006-07).
Comic View joins a number of other BET programs that are shot on location in the “dirty south” including The Game, Sunday Best and most recently, Being Mary Jane.
