TMZ is reporting that “Body Party” singer Ciara was in the middle of performing her hit song, “Promise” during last night’s L.A. Pride concert when a process server representing The Hit Factory club, handed her a lawsuit.

In the video, Ciara is seen on the edge of the stage when it appears that a female fan is trying to give her a note or piece of paper. Ciara goes over the young lady, takes a glance at the document and then hands it back to her. Ciara then turns around and walks to the other side of the stage. The young woman picks up the paper work and places it back on the edge of the stage. She then turns to the video camera and says, “She (Ciara) got served. She threw it away but she got served though.”

Reportedly, Ciara bailed out of a June 7th night club appearance that the popular West Hollywood night club, had been promoting as a pre-Pride event. According to the club, the singer signed a $10,000 deal to make an appearance and not sing because of her previous agreement to perform on June 8th for the L.A. Pride Main Stage. However, Ciara backed out of her agreement with the club on June 3rd, leaving them without a star for the event. Now, the club is suing the singer for breach of contract and wants to be reimbursed for the money they spent on promoting her appearance as well as potential money they lost out on because of her cancelled appearance.

A rep for Ciara released a statement about the the situation to TMZ saying:

“Ciara’s commitment to perform at L.A. Gay Pride on Saturday night prevented her from making such a Friday night appearance. Despite being notified early last week that Ciara could not appear, the Factory continued to market and promotes Ciara’s appearance. The reason for the continued marketing/promotion is unclear, as it is not known why the Factory would intend to continue to mislead the public, to cause damage to the L.A. Gay Pride festival and to attempt to portray Ciara in a negative light.”

RC will keep you posted on this situation as more details continue to develop.
