A new trailer has surfaced for Fruitvale Station formerly titled Fruitvale starring Michael B. Jordan and Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer. The story retells the last day in the life of 22-year old Oscar Grant, who was shot and killed by an Oakland police officer at the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station, Fruitvale, on New Year’s Day, 2009.
As previously reported the film is directed by Ryan Coogler and is produced by Oscar-winning actor, Forest Whitaker. Fruitvale Station is also this year’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner. Past films that have won in this category include Precious and Beasts of the Southern Wild, both of which produced an Oscar win for Mo’Nique and Oscar nominations for Gabourey Sidibe and Quvenzhané Wallis.
