Back in March, we reported that comedian Chris Rock was going behind the camera for the third time as the director of a new romantic dramedy entitled, Finally Famous. The film is about a comedian-turned film-star (Rock) who tries to reinvent himself as a serious actor. At the time, there was no information regarding who would star in the film until now.

rosario-dawson.jpg24According to Indie Wire, Gabrielle Union has been tapped to play Rock’s popular reality TV star fiancée. Apparently, Union’s character has helped Rock recover from alcoholism. However, she is starving for fame and tries to convince him to marry her on the show. Rosario Dawson (left) plays a sober, New York magazine journalist that interviews Rock and finds herself attracted to him, although she is in a committed relationship.

Check out the film’s official synopsis:

ANDRE ALLEN is a comedian turned film star who, despite the expectations of his millions of fans, is determined to reinvent himself as a “serious” actor. Although his latest pretentiously historical film project is tanking, his upcoming television wedding to pretty, popular reality star, ERICA LONG, is the biggest media event of the year. In the midst of all the frenzy leading up to his televised nuptials, Andre agrees to be interviewed for the New Yorker by CHELSEA BROWN, a gorgeous but no-frills young woman with a sharp intelligence that matches his own. It’s a feisty, funny, no-holds-barred interaction that may well change the course of both their lives…

Shooting for Finally Famous  begins this summer with a 2014 release date.
