Congratulations to the film Fruitvale Station for winning Cannes Film Fest Prize of the Future. The indie drama starring Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan was already a big winner at the festival earlier this year, taking home the coveted Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.
As previously reported, Fruitvale Station retells the last day in the life of 22-year old Oscar Grant, who was shot and killed by an Oakland police officer at the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station, Fruitvale, on New Year’s Day, 2009.
Harvey Weinstein, TWC Co-Chairman says, “Our huge congratulations go to Ryan Coogler and his talented cast on receiving such a prestigious honor out in Cannes. This is a film we are proud to be a part of and we’re glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves.”
