Surviving members of the famed R&B group, TLC are celebrating their 20th anniversary in a major way. According to THR, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne ‘T-Boz” Watkins are releasing a new album, debuting their highly-anticipated VH1 biopic and going on a national tour which will feature a digitally generated performance from their late third member, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes.
As previously reported, the big announcement was made last year on the 10th anniversary of Lopes’ death. Surprisingly, Lopes’ performance will feature an archived images of her as opposed to a new hologram image like the one Dr. Dre used of Tupac during last year’s Coachella performance.
“The word anniversary means a celebration. For us, her death will never be a celebration, it’s still something that hurts,” Watkins said in a statement, with Thomas adding, “Lisa is our sister. You never get over losing a family member. We love her and we miss her and that isn’t ever going to change.”
Fellow Atlantan, T.I. is also scheduled to perform on the following Tuesday, May 14 along with Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams, who served as a mentor this season.
Green, who coached the show for the first three seasons, will perform “Only You,” a new song from his forthcoming album, Girl Power. Green left the show after last season to do his Loberace gig in Las Vegas. He was replaced by another fellow Atlantan, Usher.
The Voice airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
