New Deals for Kevin Hart and John Legend

Indie Wire  is reporting that Lionsgate is teaming up with RHOH star Kevin Hart for the release of his next feature film, Quick & Easy.  Reportedly, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed the new partnership recently at CinemanCon. The lucrative deal with Hart is also dual partnership with CodeBlack Entertainment.  Look for both Lionsgate and CodeBlack to release Hart’s next concert film Let Me Explain,  this July 3.

In other news, John Legend is taking the “next step forward in building Get Lifted.” Remember, this is his multimedia company that inked an exclusive deal last summer with Universal Cable Productions.

According to Indie Wire,  Legend has sold a new series to HBO titled Down Lo.  The new project is set in South Beach, Miami and features the city’s heavy party scene including the music, sports, fashion, models, money, cars, sex, fame and secrets. The show is described as an edgy drama with intersecting stories, including one about a gay rapper living on the “down low.”

This is Legend’s third sold project from his company. As previously reported, Fox purchased his first series last October. The untitled show, which is loosely based on his life, is a comedy which centers on a guy in his early 20’s who is trying to raise his siblings while juggling his professional and social life. His second project titled, The Edge,  was sold earlier this year to USA and is described as a crime drama.

Congratulations to both Kevin and John for making two major power moves!
