Indie Wire is reporting that actress Kimberly Elise will star in a new scripted drama titled “Hit the Floor.” The one-hour long series will focus on the lives and loves of the Los Angeles Devil Girls, the dance team for the No. 1 professional basketball team in the country.
According to Elise, the series is similar to “The Black Swan” in that it gives the audience a glimpse at what goes on behind-the-scenes with the cast of pro-dancers but is not as dark. The show was originally called Bounce and was slated to debut on VH1. However, it has now been acquired by Starz and will most likely air this fall.
Southland’s Regina King is co-starring in an ABC comedy pilot titled Divorce: A Love Story. Reportedly, the comedy will follow a recently divorced couple who can’t seem to stay out of each other’s lives. King will play Cassandra, a diva and temperamental hygienist who is best friends with the male half of the couple. Her husband will be played by Adam Goldberg.
King’s next project is the debut of her original BET film Let the Church Say Amen. She co-produced the inspirational flick along with her sister Reina King and Queen Latifah.
Lastly, Kelly Rowland has revealed that she is starring in a new film with Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx.
According to iluluonline.com, the “Kisses Down Low” singer spilled the beans during a recent visit to DJ Drama on Shade 45. Rowland was addressing Jamie’s red carpet flirting during the Oscar pre-show that she co-hosted. “Jamie is a friend of mine. That was very weird. That’s my buddy. I love Jamie. We’re actually going to do a film together,” she explained. “That’s actually what he was getting at was the film.” No word yet on the title of the film or when it will debut.
In the meantime, you can catch Kelly on BET’s new show What Would Dylan Do? airing this fall.
