According to Indie Wire, Mara Brock Akil (creator of Girlfriends  and The Game) recently tweeted that question to fans, saying that she would like to start a KickStarter Fund for a feature film based on the popular TV series and its characters.

Girlfriends  premiered on The CW network in 2000 and starred Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, Persia White and Jill Marie Jones. The show reportedly averaged 4 million viewers during its early seasons. However, it was cancelled in 2008, ending with roughly 2 million viewers.  At its peak, the show was considered the longest-running live-action sitcom on a network as well as one of the highest rated scripted shows on television among African American  adults and women.

With that being said, Akil is certainly hoping that all those viewers will rally behind the idea of a KickStarter Fund, giving her the ammunition she needs to do the film.

Tell us what you think. Would you support the film?
