First Lady Michelle Obama takes her family and fashion seriously.
The 59-year old beauty talks about both and “leading by example” in her feature story for April’s Vogue magazine, which focuses on “the beauty and well-being of women’s bodies.”
She and her famous bangs look absolutely stunning on the cover while sporting a blue and purple sheath by one of her favorite designers, Reed Krakoff. This is Obama’s second time on the cover of the fashion bible having appeared on the March 2009 cover and in two feature stories in 2005 and 2006.
Check out the photos below shot by famed photographer Annie Lebowitz and a few excerpts from the interview…
“I always say that women should wear whatever makes them feel good about themselves. That’s what I always try to do,” she said. “I also believe that if you’re comfortable in your clothes it’s easy to connect with people and make them feel comfortable as well. In every interaction that I have with people, I always want to show them my most authentic self.”
“Our job is, first and foremost, to make sure our family is whole. You know, we have small kids; they’re growing every day. But I think we were both pretty straightforward when we said, ‘Our No. 1 priority is making sure that our family is whole.'”
“Michelle’s like Beyoncé in that song: ‘Let me upgrade ya!’ She upgraded me,” says President Obama.
