Details about the soundtrack to the highly anticipated Jackie Robinson biopic have been released. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as the legendary baseball player alongside Nicole Beharie as Robinson’s widow, Rachel.
It also features Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers manager who made history by signing Robinson as the first black player in the history of the Major League Baseball organization.
As previously reported, the film’s trailer includes Jay-Z’s Brooklyn Go Hard. However, the hip hop record does not appear on the album, which is being released by WaterTower Music.
Instead the soundtrack has more of a traditional jazz vibe with songs from such iconic singers as Billie Holliday, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and more. The album is slated to be released on April 9 with the Warner Bros film set for April 12.
