Indie Wire is reporting that upcoming VH1 biopic about the rise and fall of 90’s girl group TLC has a title and director.  Drum roll please…

Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story is the name of the new film that will star Keke Palmer, Lil Mama and Drew Sidora.  According to the VH1 press release, the project is being directed by Charles Stone III, who also directed Drumline,  Paid in Full  and Mr. 3000.

Kate Lanier of What’s Love Got to Do With It,  Set if Off  and Beauty Shop, will serve as the film’s screenwriter.

As previously reported, Keke Palmer will play Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Lil Mama will portray Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Drew Sidora has been cast as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.

“With this cast, we are thrilled with the talent assembled both in front of and behind the cameras,” stated Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President,Original Programming and Production, VH1. ”TLC are truly music pioneers and this movie is a fantastic way to expand our scripted push by combining our audience’s passion for music with their love of story. We know our viewers will be eager to go beyond the headlines and into the surprisingly personal, never before told stories of these groundbreaking women.”

Surviving members, Chilli and T-Boz are on board as consultants and executive producers of the film, which is part of the network’s new series of scripted music-focused features.
