Fantasia experiments with a ‘rock-soul’ vibe on her new album ‘The Side Effects of You’

American Idol alum Fantasia Barrino is moving beyond the recent drama with the LGBT community to focus on her new album and 10 year anniversary. The budding songwriter is very excited about her forth coming project, The Side Effects of You, which is a follow up to her Grammy-nominated album Back to Me.

“This time I just wanted to stick with one person so we could have an album that has one sound and everybody’s on the same page,” she explained in a recent interview with Steve Harvey.

The album is said to feature a “rock-soul” sound a la Tina Turner and James Brown, something Fantasia says she has been wanted to do for quite some time.

“It’s my baby ’cause I finally got to write,” said Tasia. “I just wanted so bad to do something like that and I thank the record company, RCA, for allowing me to finally be able to do that on this album.”

Her first single, Lose to Win, is actually a last minute addition to the album but is still very special to the singer, who’s celebrating 10 years in the music industry.

“For me, it just wasn’t about a relationship, it was about my whole career,” said Fantasia. “It’s been 10 years for me and there’s been ups, there’s been downs, there’s been people to walk away, so the message was strong for me and I just had to record it.”
