The 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced earlier today and hip hop icons Public Enemy, the late blues legend Albert King and the late ‘Queen of Disco’ Donna Summer were among the names announced.  Also joining the inductee list are Heart, Randy Newman, and RushLou Adler and Quincy Jones will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award as non-performers.

Inductees: Quincy Jones, Donna Summer and Albert King

This is a long overdue honor for Summer, who was nominated at least four times before her death this past May. A performer must have released their work at least 25 years prior to appearing on the ballot in order to be eligible.

The 28th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on April 18 and will air on May 18 at 9 p.m. on HBO.

Kudos to all of the inductees!
