Keri Hilson is ready for her close up!

The “Pretty Girl Rock” singer says she is back and gearing up to release her highly anticipated third album.  After taking a much needed break from the spotlight—yeah it’s been a minute now since No Boys Allowed—this Georgia Peach is starting off 2013 with new music and a new acting career.

Hilson recently performed for the VH1 Divas’ Tribute to Donna Summer and chatted backstage about the project and working with her acting mentor, Vin Diesel.

“I took a little break, and I’m back,” Hilson explained, teasing a new album set for release in the first quarter of next year and beaming with excitement for her upcoming silver-screen debut.

Hilson is slated to star in two films next year including Destined and alongside Vin Diesel in Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking.  According to her, the Hollywood tough guy has become her acting mentor.

She also says, she is “super excited” about getting back to her more theatrical roots. “I was a theater major in college,” says Hilson, who recently signed up with Wilhelmina Models.  “Acting is just as much a part of the things that inspire me, and the things that keep me creatively juicy, just as much as music is. I’d love to have a lasting acting career.”

With her looks and the right film, we’re sure that the sky is the limit for Keri’s acting career.  RC looks forward to hearing the new album and seeing her on the big screen.

Thanks VH1
