Rising hip hop star Kendrick Lamar made an unusual request recently during an interview with MTV news. The Dr. Dre protege asked Janet Jackson to make an appearance in his video for the upcoming single, “Poetic Justice.”

The 25-year-old rapper, who recently made Forbes 30 Under 30  list, would be so excited if Jackson would star in the video which samples her classic slow jam “Anytime, Anyplace” and is titled after her first feature film.

“Janet, c’mon, Janet. No paperwork with the managers… This is artist to artist,” he pleaded with the camera during the interview. “This is a young boy that looked up to you for years.”

Lamar is without a doubt hip hop’s new “it” boy, scoring $242,000 in sales for his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d. city. The question is now, “Will he score Janet Jackson?”

Lamar’s request is perfect in its timing considering this recent photo of Janet shopping in Hollywood with her very wealthy beau.  Jackson is seen wearing the same braided look as she did almost 20 years ago for the film.

No word yet as to whether or not Jackson will appear in the video or if she even knows about Lamar’s request.  RC will definitely keep you posted as this story plays out.  #goodluck
