The LA Times is reporting that HBO is gearing up to produce a movie version of the Broadway play “Stick Fly.”
The Lydia R. Diamond’s drama about a wealthy African American family staying on Martha’s Vineyard played on Broadway in 2011 and was produced by Alicia Keys and directed by Kenny Leon.
The show ran at the Cort Theatre and starred Tracie Thoms, Dule Hill, Rosie Benton, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Mekhi Phifer and Condola Rashad, who was nominated for a 2012 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. No casting has been set for the HBO version.
