Versatile actor and singer Jamie Foxx is reportedly in talks to star as the villain in the upcoming sequel to “The Amazing Spider-Man.”  According to BV, Foxx tweeted about the role after a story was published in Variety. Foxx will allegedly play Electro, a man who gets his super powers from a lightning strike.

“Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.”

If this is true, Foxx will join actors Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man.

Variety  reports, Electro is the alter ego of Max Dillon, an enemy of Spider-Man who gain the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in “The Amazing Spider-Man #9” in February 1964.

His inclusion in the new Spider-Man universe was alluded to a the end of the “The Amazing Spider-Man”; a post credits sequence featured a shadowy figure ominously chatting Dr. Curt Conners (The Lizard) while lighting  flashed in the background, causing some fans to speculate that Electro was the next obstacle for Peter Parker.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” debuts in theaters in 2014.
