Super music producer Polow Da Don is known for having a few surprises at his Annual Celebration 4 A Cause Fundraising Event and this past Sunday night was no exception.
The fashion and music event, which raises money and awareness for cancer research, featured a number of rising and established fashion designers including Mataano, London’s Chantell Walters, Marcc and Project Runway’s Mychael Knight.
However, the surprise of the evening was the premiere of Toya Carter’s new line Adori. The line boasts an array of bold colors, animal prints and denim. It’s an endeavor that Carter says she’s been working on for quite some time amidst other projects including another book as well as a line of hair extensions.
“Lately I’ve been working on my clothing line Adori. I’m also working with a new publishing company to produce a follow up to my first book, Priceless Inspirations,” says Carter. “I also have a new hair extensions line that I’m hoping to launch on the web and get it in stores. But fashion has been always my first love. It makes me light up.”
The evening was hosted by #8 ranked NHRA race car driver Nicole Lyons and was attended by vocalist Keri Hilson, hair guru Derek J and YouTube sensations and sisters, Chloe and Halle. R&B newcomer Luke James entertained the crowd with rousing performances of the Ready for the World classic “Let Me Love You Down,” Mint Condition’s “Pretty Brown Eyes” and his latest “I Want You.”
This year’s event also honored Atlanta Hawks player Josh Powell and his 21 Reasons to Give Foundation, Tameka Foster-Raymond for her contribution to fashion and La’Tasha Harris with The Touch Movement.
