Will.I.am is partnering with Coca Cola to offer high-end eco-friendly clothing and gear.
According to TheGrio.com, the recycled apparel, Ekocycle, is geared toward younger shoppers that don’t mind dropping $349 for headphones. Will is also hoping to team up with big-name designers and offer up other items including bicycles, shoes, handbags, chairs and tables.
Television promotions advertising the line of merchandise are expected to start during the current summer Olympic Games.
RC reported a few months back that former South African President, Nelson Mandela was launching a clothing line, 46664.
Now reports are saying that the apartheid icon is not affiliated with the clothing brand at all. The Huffington Post is saying that Mandela was never a part of the clothing line and they have misled people in the fashion industry.
466/64 Fashion released a statement saying the brand is separate from Mandela and his foundation. They are not to use his name or his image commercially. Their intent was to create clothing that would fund various humanitarian groups. 466/64 is based on the prison number given to Mandela when he was incarcerated on Robben Island.
Let’s hope that Mandela and 466/64 are able to work things out peaceably.
