Media mogul Oprah Winfrey and entertainment machine Beyoncé are among the ten African American women to make Forbes annual list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World. Beyoncé is the only black female music artist to make the cut.
First Lady of The United States Michelle Obama is also on the list coming in at lucky number seven.
Other notable African American women include: Ursula Burns, Chairman and CEO of Xerox; Rosalind Brewer, President and CEO, Sam’s Club & Wal-Mart Stores; Helene Gayle, President , CEO of Care; Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director, World Food Programme, United Nations; Joyce Banda, President of Malawi, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Finance, Nigeria; Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia.
