RC was in the house this past Wednesday for the world premiere of the GMC Network’s latest made for television film, “Raising Izzie.”

A number of casts members and ATL celebrities were there to help former Tyler Perry Studio executive Roger M. Bobb make his directorial debut. Roger has since started his own production company, Bobbcat Films and Raising Izzie  is the first of many projects.

The story is about two young sisters played by newcomers Victoria Staley and Kyla Kenedy who lose their mother to cancer and are forced to face the world on their own until a loving couple (Soul Food’s  Vanessa Williams and Rockmond Dunbar) step in and change their lives forever. The film also stars comedian Rodney Perry and Atlanta’s own comedienne and radio personality Wanda Smith.

Raising Izzie  is based on a screenplay written by David M. Conley and was the first prize winner in the 2011 inaugural GMC Faith and Family Screenplay Competition, at the American Black Film Festival.

The premiere party and red carpet were held  in the Rich Auditorium of Atlanta’s Woodruff Art Center and was attended by actress Terri J. Vaughn, reality-television starlet Towanda Braxton, actor Cedric Pendleton, RHOA beauty Cynthia Bailey and her husband Peter, former RHOA Lisa Wu and Bronze Lens Film Festival executive and singer Kathleen Bertrand, whose songs were featured throughout the film.
