Ne-Yo honors George Lucas and spotlights foster care initiatives at Compound Foundation event…

Foster care children have a special place in Ne-Yo’s heart.  The three-time Grammy winner turned his attention to this social issue during his Foster a Legacy Benefit recently. The singer-songwriter also paid tribute to his friend and film director George Lucas, who is an adoptive parent of three.

“[I visited] a couple of group homes in Brownsville Brooklyn and in Los Angeles. [There] wasn’t anything making sure that these kids understood that your circumstances and where you come from, has nothing to do with where you go.”

Ne-yo saluted his Red Tails director George Lucas for his adoptive children saying, “When I learned you were the father of three adopted children I couldn’t tell you how even more impressed I became with you). I’m a fan and an admirer and still the little boy that looked up to you.”

The event was attended by a bevy of stars including Russell Simmons, Elise Neal, Rocsi Diaz, and Paula Abdul. It was also co-hosted by Celebrity Apprentice winner, Arsenio Hall.

Ne-Yo ended the night with performances of songs from his forth coming album, R.E.D  [Realizing Every Dream] slated to hit stores in September.
